About 300 million people speak Bengali. It is the 1st language of Bangladesh and 2nd most spoken language of India. It is used as a 2nd language in Karachi of Pakistan, in Karnatak and Jharkhand of India. It is the most spoken language of West Bengal, Tripura, South Assam and Andaman of India. We learn Bengali. We teach Bengali. We are Bengali speakers from different parts of the world. Now Bengali speakers are living in about 200 countries. Bengali Literature is a rich literature and a part of world literature. It has official status in 3 countries- Bangladesh, India and Sierra Leon( Africa ). Besides these, in each state of Seven Sisters, there are at least 10% Bengali speakers.
